Israel Scripts for Jewish Communities
Where helpful and healthy conversations begin
These scripts are scenario oriented. We took time to discover what are some the salient problems that crop up when small communities have arguments over Israel. Each script represents real scenarios that have occurred within Jewish communities of small congregations.
The list of scripts so far:
Useful scripts that represent reality
These scripts are not supposed to be static documents that get sent into the cyber-sphere never to be changed again. These scripts are only useful if they represent reality. Sometimes our reality becomes distorted or doesn't properly represent the majority view. So, we hope that if these scripts are not helpful that you make a contribution to it. Make a suggestion in our forums and helps us curate these scripts into useful documents that help Jewish communities have safe, productive, and meaningful conversations about Israel.
What these scripts are not designed for
These scripts are to help active and organized conversations about Israel. If your community decides to come together and talk about Israel in a healthy way, then these scripts are for you. However, these scripts are not designed to be cannon fodder to attack other people's views. They are not designed to continue a shouting match between inflexible views or people not willing to see each other's perspective.
Pirkei Avot 5:17
Every argument that is [for the sake of] heaven's name, it is destined to endure. But if it is not [for the sake of] heaven's name -- it is not destined to endure. What [is an example of] an argument in the name of heaven? The argument of Hillel and Shammai.
